Carried To The Table

What does it mean to be carried to the table of a King when you feel like you have nothing to offer? That is the heart of this powerful message, anchored in the story of Mephibosheth from 2 Samuel 9. This forgotten, lame descendant of a fallen house lived in a place called Lodabar, a word meaning no pasture or place without provision. But Lodabar was never just a location on a map. It is a condition of the heart, and every one of us has lived there at some point. It is the place of addiction, grief, shame, a devastating diagnosis, or the crushing loss of someone we love. The remarkable truth this message draws out is that grace always knows the address of the broken. The King did not wait for Mephibosheth to clean himself up or prove his worth. He sent for him, welcomed him, and seated him at the royal table, covering everything that was broken beneath it. This is the thread that runs from Genesis to Revelation, a Father who calls out to us not because He does not know where we are, but because He wants us to see where we are in relation to Him. He is always taking the first step toward us, and the invitation to His table is always open. There is a chair reserved, and it has our name on it.
