What does it look like when God calls us to something that seems financially impossible, and then provides for it in ways we never anticipated? This message takes us on a journey across America through the lens of a traveling chaplaincy ministry, where the cost of fuel became a powerful metaphor for the cost of obedience. At $4.65 a gallon, pumping 80 gallons at a time into a motor home that gets 7.4 miles per gallon, the numbers simply do not add up on paper. And yet, that is precisely where faith begins. The central spiritual lesson here is that when God calls us to a purpose, He does not leave us to fund it alone. The story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 anchors this message beautifully. Jesus looked up into a tree and called a man by name, declaring that the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. That same divine impulse is meant to live in us. We are not spectators in God's redemptive mission. We are participants. Whether we are helping a stranger back a motor home into a tight space, offering a free Coke float, or simply being present with someone who is hurting, kindness becomes the soil in which the seed of the gospel takes root. The message challenges us to ask ourselves honestly: are we living with that kind of intentional, Spirit-led attentiveness to the people around us?
